SNAKES

No description of pond life is complete without at least mentioning snakes. Where there is pond life there will be snakes sooner or later. Water snakes grow between 3 and 5 feet and although they seem small in diameter they can swallow whole a frog 4 times their diameter. Snakes will also go after fish and have been known to latch onto fish 10 times their size. Make sure you know what kind of snake is visiting your pond as other snakes, like rattlesnakes, can visit as well. This picture is of a water snake.
